Urmila Janardan is a research assistant at Upturn. Her current focus is technology in hiring and criminal justice. She wrote her senior undergrad thesis on the potential for racial discrimination in targeted advertising systems, which informed and strengthened her interest in leveraging technology to further, rather than obstruct, the empowerment of marginalized groups.
Urmila was in the first graduating class at the Minerva Schools, where she graduated with a B.S. in Statistics.
