Sarika Ram is a Summer Fellow at Upturn. Before coming to Upturn, Sarika launched Surge Employment Solutions, an early stage startup that sources, trains, and places formerly incarcerated people in highly skilled trade positions. Sarika also cares about educational justice; she has also worked as a tutor and teaching assistant at the Boston Pre-Release Center and South Bay House of Correction. As a rising senior at Boston University, Sarika looks forward to completing her senior thesis, which will examine the implementation of restorative justice practices in the aftermath of hate crime.
Next year, Sarika will graduate from BU with a degree in Sociology. She plans to go on to law school and have a career in public defense.
