Maria Isabel Villamar is the Director of Operations at Upturn, where she oversees finance, HR, and internal systems with a focus on equity, transparency, and organizational health. As part of the executive team, she helps shape Upturn’s culture, structure, and day-to-day operations.
Before joining Upturn, Maria Isabel was the Director of Finance at Amazon Conservation, where she oversaw financial reporting, budgeting, and planning across the US and South America. In addition to managing day-to-day financial operations, she served on the leadership team and played a central role in team-building, talent retention, and organizational strategy.
Previously, Maria Isabel served as Director of Finance & Staff Operations at the Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT), where she led both financial management and internal operations. She directed annual budgeting, audit, and reporting processes while partnering with leadership to foster inclusive hiring, competitive employee benefits, and responsive staff support systems.
Maria Isabel is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds a Bachelor of Science from Queens College.
